It’s Time to Gain Medical Device Independence: Biomedical Engineering Master Program at UGM Graduate School Opens Admissions

Chronic diseases such as heart disease, stroke, and cancer are increasingly affecting the population. Currently, the treatment of chronic diseases and public health services still heavily rely on imported medical devices.

Meanwhile, the availability of domestically produced medical equipment remains very limited and needs to be rapidly improved. The enactment of Law No. 17 of 2023 opens up opportunities for domestic industries to accelerate the independent production of medical devices.

This law clearly mandates special attention to the provision of affordable healthcare services, especially through the development of self-sufficiency in the production of medical devices. read more

Fitri Nur Laily Participates in Research Internship Program in Taiwan

“Yesterday, thank God, I received an offer from my academic advisor, Sir,” said Fitri Nur Laily, who is often called Fitri, enthusiastically sharing how she started her journey into the IIPP program.

At that time, her advisor was working on a collaborative project with a professor from National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan. It turned out that Fitri’s thesis was related to this joint project.

Coincidentally, the professor from NCKU was registered as one of the supervisors in the internship program in Taiwan. This helped facilitate Fitri’s participation in the program organized by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) for three months in mid-2024. read more

Yogyakarta – Drg. Abizar Agung Wibawa, a Master student in Biomedical Engineering at the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), began his academic journey by participating in the Research Sharing Vol. 1 project. In this event, he was entrusted with the role of Master of Ceremony (MC), facilitating a gathering between lecturers and students to discuss various research topics in the field of biomedical engineering.

“I was still in my first semester when I was asked to be the MC for this event. At first, it felt challenging because I didn’t know about the lecturers and fellow students yet, but through this event, I met more people from various academic backgrounds,” he said. read more
