Prospective students are expected to have a relevant academic background and basic competencies in engineering mathematics, physics, and fundamental engineering principles. Prior exposure to biological systems, medical instrumentation, biomaterials, or related biomedical engineering fields is considered an advantage. Applicants should also possess basic competencies in research methodology, academic writing, and scholarly literacy, including the ability to read and understand scientific literature in English. Academic readiness and alignment of research interests are assessed through administrative selection and interviews. Applicants who do not fully meet the minimum competencies may be required to undertake a matriculation program.

General Requirements for Master Program

Documents and/or data required to register are:

  1. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from an accredited study program in Biology, Pharmacy, Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Engineering or other recognized fields of science.
  2. Transcript of Values with GPA: at least 3.00 if it comes from an accredited Study Program C, at least 2.75 from an accredited Study Program B, and at least 2.5 from an accredited Study Program A.
  3. Valid TOEFL ITP score ≥ 400 or AcEPT UGM ≥ 149 and TPA BAPENAS or PAPs UGM ≥ 450.
  4. Have recommendations from two people who know prospective students at the previous education level, such as Academic Supervisors and / or the prospective student’s workplace.
  5. Pass the substance test held by the Biomedical Engineering Master Program, in the form of a written test and / or interview.

Special Requirements for Master Program

  1. Prospective students with a partnership scheme, the requirements will be regulated separately based on the MoU
  2. Special additional requirements for Masters by research (research-based) are: thesis research proposal
  3. Special additional requirements for FAST TRACK Masters:
    1. Have taken undergraduate studies, for 6 semesters
    2. Number of credits >120 credits with a minimum GPA> 3.25
    3. TOEFL score> 475 and TPA (the academic potential test)> 475
    4. Certificate / recommendation letter from the Dean
    5. A statement of willingness to participate in the Fast Track program.
  4. Matriculation Program Requirement
    The student should join the matriculation program (bridging course) before starting the program, in order to standardize foundational competencies.

    1.  The student from a vocational bachelor’s may have a strong practical skills but limited exposure to theoretical foundations.
    2.  The student may be identified lack of critical thinking, analytical ability or understanding of core disciplinary concepts, during admission process
    3. Applicants whose undergraduate field of study is not fully aligned with the program
