The Scientific Vision of the Master Program in Biomedical Engineering is derived from the vision of UGM and the UGM Graduate School so that the Scientific Vision of the Mater Program in Biomedical Engineering is to become an internationally recognized and leading Biomedical Engineering Study Program, oriented towards integrative research and education, and superior entrepreneurship to improve the quality of human health based on the values of Pancasila.
The mission of the Master Program in Biomedical Engineering is also derived from the Mission of UGM and the UGM Graduate School. The mission of the Master’s Program in Biomedical Engineering is to organize education, research, and community service through an interdisciplinary approach that synergizes internationally based on local potential.
The objective of the Master Program in Biomedical Engineering is to produce graduates who have competencies in the field of Biomedical Engineering according to national and international competency standards.
The objective of the Master Program in Biomedical Engineering is to educate professionals who are able to:

  1. Developing Biomedical Engineering science based on research.
  2. Conducting ongoing research in cross-disciplinary teams.
  3. Cooperating with industry, especially the medical equipment industry, government, and other private parties.

GRADUATE PROFILE

The profile of graduates of the Biomedical Engineering Study Program refers to the KKNI and the National Standards for Higher Education as stated in the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 3 of 2020.
The profile of Biomedical Engineering Study Program graduates is expected to be able to fill the expertise in several jobs in hospital, research institute, health industry, educational institutions, clinical laboratory, government institutions.

Program Educational Objective (PEO)

The objective of the learning program or Program Educational Objective (PEO) of the Master’s Program in Biomedical Engineering is to create human resources who are expected to have the following characteristics after graduating from the study program and working in institutions/society:

  1. PEO 1: Able to solve problems in the biomedical field using engineering principles in an inter or multidisciplinary manner.
  2. PEO 2: Able to develop innovative knowledge and technology in the biomedical industry (artificial organs and medical instrumentation)
  3. PEO 3: Able to follow developments in science and technology that are relevant to his/her professional career on an on going basis

Every graduate of the Biomedical Engineering Master Program is expected to have:

  1. Employability:
    1. Able to make measurements and interpret data from living systems
    2. Able to solve bio/biomedical engineering problems, including those related to the interaction between living and non-living systems.
  2. Knowledge Mastery:
    1. Able to analyze, model, design, and realize bio/biomedical engineering equipment, systems, components or processes
    2. Able to apply the principles of engineering, biology, human physiology, chemistry, calculus-based physics, mathematics and statistics
  3. Authority and Responsibility:
    1. Able to manage research and conduct development that is beneficial to society and science, and able to become an independent learner who understands the importance of lifelong learning.
    2. Have the ability to work individually or in teams with responsibility and be able to communicate effectively

Learning Outcomes

The student competencies that have been formulated by the study program and are expected to be learning outcomes (LO) after completing all academic activities in the Biomedical Engineering Masters study program are as follows:

  1. LO 1: Able to use knowledge in the fields of engineering, health, and biology to analyze problems in the field of biomedical engineering globally that are relevant to the needs of society.
  2. LO 2: Able to design research related to artificial organs and medical instrumentation.
  3. LO 3: Able to test and analyze relevant design results in the field of biomedical engineering.
  4. LO 4: Able to communicate and work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
  5. LO 5: Able to convey the results of work in the field of biomedical engineering in writing and orally.
  6. LO 6: Able to demonstrate professionalism and adhere to bioethical principles.
  7. LO 7: Able to develop oneself sustainably and adapt to developments in biomedical science and technology.
