The Biomedical Engineering Master’s Program, Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada, collaborated with FKKMK UGM, FKG UGM, and Rumah Kebugaran Difabel (RKD) Pinilih, organized a Community Service Program (PKM) in the form of Integrated Health Services for people with Cerebral Palsy (CP) and their caregivers on Saturday, September 13th 2025, from 08:30 to 15:00 WIB at RKD Pinilih, Sedayu District, Bantul, Yogyakarta.
Types of Services
This activity provided various health services designed to meet the needs of people with cerebral palsy (CP), individuals with other disabilities, as well as their families or caregivers. The services included: examinations by a neurologist, physiotherapy for individuals with CP and other disabilities, consultation on assistive devices/assistive technology, dental check-ups, basic laboratory tests, and general medical examinations specifically for caregivers.
Participants and Implementation
This activity involved 37 team members from UGM providing services to 64 participants, including individuals with disabilities and their families. The participants were not limited to those with cerebral palsy but also included individuals with various other types of disabilities, making the services more diverse and responsive to different needs.
The entire series services ran smoothly due to the full support of RKD Pinilih management. The organizers actively assisted in coordinating participant attendance, managing the flow of activities, and examination schedules therefore each participant received optimal service.
The strong collaboration of the UGM team and RKD Pinilih management ensured well organized activity, structured, and delivered meaningful impact to the beneficiaries and their families.
The event was also attended by the Chief of Argorejo Village, Ngadimin, SH, and the Chief of Sedayu II Community Health Center, dr. Sistia Utami, M.Sc. Both expressed appreciation for the joint initiative in realizing inclusive healthcare services for people with disabilities.
Expectations
The Chief of the Community Service Team, dr. Rina Susilowati, Ph.D., hopes that this activity will help create access to friendly, comprehensive, and sustainable for individuals with CP and their families healthcare services. Cross-faculty, community, and local government collaboration represents a concrete commitment from UGM to support the quality of life of people with disabilities.This activity supports the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being: improving access to inclusive and quality healthcare services for people with disabilities and their families, SDG 4 – Quality Education: supporting service-based learning for Biomedical Engineering master’s students through real-world community practice, SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities: expanding access and reducing disparities in healthcare services for vulnerable groups, especially individuals with cerebral palsy, SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: strengthening cross-disciplinary collaboration between UGM, healthcare facilities, communities, and local government
